〰️ Mentoring Moments, Lasting Impacts
〰️ Mentoring Moments, Lasting Impacts
Why we do this?
The inspiration to start a mentoring service arose from the recognition of the untapped potential in every young mind, often overshadowed by self-doubt and external challenges. I recall my own struggles as a teenager, navigating my own path through education, identity, and family breakdown feeling isolated and unsure of my potential. It was during those years that I realised the power of guidance and support through a Rugby Coach I had at school. The support I was given gave me confidence to realise my passion for sport and the determination to achieve my goals. After over a decade of working in various roles in and around the care system I wanted to start my own service and go against the norm. I set out to create an environment where the best interests of young people are unwaveringly prioritised and non negotiable. This vision includes fostering a supportive and empowering space where our staff are not only respected and appreciated but also recognised and fairly compensated for their incredible contributions. By nurturing a culture of mutual respect and genuine appreciation we aim to inspire both our young people and our team to thrive and reach their fullest potential. These goals serve as a guiding light, providing direction to the decisions made at Marsh McNeil Mentoring.

I benefitted from mentoring earlier in life and therefore recognise how valuable mentoring and befriending can be. Behaviour issues throughout my grammar school education, coupled with my hyperactivity and a lack of focus, meant that working hard and succeeding was a constant uphill battle. After leaving school, I met Jacob, my now best friend and business partner, whose guidance had a profound impact on my life moving forwards. Jacob mentored me on and off the rugby pitch, showing me the importance of hard-work and ambition, helping me turn a page in my life and giving me the skillset to advance and achieve. This experience has encouraged me to work with children and young people who need role-models who can help them change their own lives for the better. Community-driven mentoring, i.e. the development of vocational skills alongside mental and physical well-being, is a true passion of mine, supporting the next generation to a healthier and happier life.
